Food: It all starts with open faced peanut butter sandwiches on dark rye bread. If you must you can do a bit of jelly or chutney (see recipe).
Beer: Most of your fruit lambics are suitable as well as Flemish Reds. Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic is ideal but difficult to find. Van Steenberge’s Monk’s CafĂ© Flemish Sour Ale is a good
Cranberry Chutney
1 16 oz. Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
2 12 oz. Bottles of Sweet Kriek or Framboise
¼ tsp. Ground Cloves
A splash of aged balsamic vinegar (optional)
Mix all, bring to a boil, and simmer until thickened. ~30 min.
This simple meal is nourishing and surprisingly satisfying.
